ROY HARPER
Sophisticated Beggar.
STRIKE JHL 105.
Overall condition: EX minus.
Sleeve has a crease to top right hand corner + couple of other very minor creases but is otherwise very clean. Record has a faint mark on side 2 but plays generally Exish. Some crackle audible between tracks as befits a record of this age, but this Lp has had one careful owner: me. In 1966 I came out of Cousin's Club in Soho blinking into the dawn after an all-nighter with Roy headlining and bought this as soon as the shops opened. Not the best Harper gig (that would be UMIST, Manchester 1973) but I was stunned. Hurts me to sell this but needs must.
Most exciting gig was Hyde Park 1970 supporting the Floyd (they were turgid). Roy turned up flanked by a biker chapter and set up some speakers on top of Marble Arch and proceeded to freak out the shoppers down Oxford Street with a very loud rendition of 'Hells Angels'. The police couldn't figure out how to get up there to unplug them. They were frantic.
