The second Roxy Music album - For Your Pleasure - is an extension of the experimental style initiated on their classic debut album. It is also the last time ENO was directly involved before moving on to his successful solo career. The album is an original pressing from 1973 and was produced by John Anthony and Chris Thomas on the Island Records label. Earlier pressed examples in top condition are far harder to find.


This is an excellent follow-up album with a stunning laminated cover. More progressive than glam rock and nowhere near to being as commercial as their following releases.


I purchased this album when it was first released and I have looked after it with great care ever since. Having play graded the music for this offering, I can confidently rate both sides of the album as EX+ bordering on NM. It has hardly been played and only on the best equipment I could afford, with particular emphasis on using high quality cartridges, thus retaining the quality of the vinyl. As previously stated, I endeavour to provide an honest assessment, highlighting any flaws or issues so that prospective buyers are fully aware of what is on offer.


This classic Island Records release plays beautifully from start to finish and there is barely a whisper of surface noise throughout, including during the quieter passages. There are no spindle marks and the album is completely level.


Both channels are clear and the productive values are second to none as the band had more time to refine their sound after their dynamic first album.


The condition of the cover is practically M grade as it has no marks, folds or wear on any sides, including the spine. Top edges are perfect. Overall, for a dark, laminated cover of fifty one years vintage a better copy would be hard to find. The original inner blue sleeve is included and has been replaced by a quality inner sleeve to best look after the vinyl (please see photos to validate authenticity).
