ROXY MUSIC ''ROXY MUSIC'' (DEBUT ALBUM) 1972 1ST UK PRESSING CAT NO ILPS 9200 ABSOLUTELY AWESOME CONDITION FOR 36 YEARS OLD! VIRTUALLY UNPLAYED NEAR PRISTINE VINYL!!! TOTALY ORIGINAL!!!!  Island pink rimed labels!!! (earliest uk pressing)

Roxy Music is the debut album by art rock band Roxy Music, released in June 1972. It was generally well-received by contemporary critics and made #10 in the UK charts!!!!

The opening track, "Re-Make/Re-Model", has been labelled a post-modernist pastiche, featuring solos by each member of the band echoing various touchstones of Western music, including The Beatles' "Day Tripper", Duane Eddy's version of "Peter Gunn" and Wagner’s "Ride of the Valkyries"; the esoteric chorus "CPL 593H" was supposedly the license number of Bryan Ferry's car. Eno produced some self-styled 'lunacy' when Ferry asked him for a sound "like the moon" for the track "Ladytron". "If There Is Something" was later covered by David Bowie's Tin Machine!!!!.

A number of songs were thematically linked to movies. "2HB", with its punning title, was Ferry’s tribute to Humphrey Bogart and quoted the line "Here’s looking at you, kid" made famous by the film Casablanca (1942); "Chance Meeting" was inspired by David Lean's Brief Encounter (1945). "The Bob" took its title from Battle of Britain (1968) and included a passage simulating the sound of gunfire!!!!.

The band had been rehearsing and re-working the songs for a couple of months before they finally found a recording place, after which the entire album was recorded in the space of a single week. This was necessary because there was no record deal as yet, and their managers at EG were financing the sessions themselves. The album was produced by King Crimson's lyricist, Peter Sinfield, who recently had left that band. In May 1972, a few weeks after the recording sessions, a contract was signed with Island Records and in June the album was released.!!!!

The vinyl

This looks near pristine! I can't see any marks at all! In fact this has hardly ever been played at all! Perhapes a handfull of times by me personaly only! This has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years! Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light would be mainly sleeve removal marks!!THE AUDIO IS TRULLY AWESOME YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER 1ST PRESS COPY! TOP! TOP! AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!! (no) signs of grooveware what so ever!!!!!

 I played this through track for track on a top! system at very loud volume! this plays through with no skips or jumps! the audio is cristal clear and vibrant with no signs of distortion or that this has been overplayed what so ever! there was the od static crackle heard during some quiet parts mainly due to durt trapped in the grooves! in my opinion top audio throughout! I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed litings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will sdee that i normally get it right!

please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the light static crackle\ticks\pops here and there (not) consistant throughout the audio! This is a genuine 36 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 36 year old system!!

This vinyl has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years and could benefit from a constant clean before each play! This would greatly reduce any static crackle and greatly enhance the audio quality!!! I have noticed that debrit left behind after play where dirt and dust trapped in the grooves over a period of time has loosend up!

Feature the Island Pink rimed labels (only 1st press) No real visable signs that this has ever been played that much at all!!

This is the original poly lined Island record sleeve AS NEW CONDITION features the original tax code stamp! very rare like this!!!!

The Cover

This is the original and more desirable FULLY LAMINATED 'TINSLEY ROBOR GROUP' GATEFOLD COVER! In exceptional condition for a 1st press super glossy minimal storageware to mention! Any marks\dents in the laminate can only be seen angled in the light! The corners are lovely and sharp very very minimal creases worth to talk of indeed! SUPERBE 1ST PRESS COVER!!!!
