Roxy Music is the debut album by art rock band Roxy Music, released in June 1972. It was generally well-received by contemporary critics and made #10 in the UK charts!!!!

The opening track, "Re-Make/Re-Model", has been labelled a post-modernist pastiche, featuring solos by each member of the band echoing various touchstones of Western music, including The Beatles' "Day Tripper", Duane Eddy's version of "Peter Gunn" and Wagner’s "Ride of the Valkyries"; the esoteric chorus "CPL 593H" was supposedly the license number of Bryan Ferry's car. Eno produced some self-styled 'lunacy' when Ferry asked him for a sound "like the moon" for the track "Ladytron". "If There Is Something" was later covered by David Bowie's Tin Machine!!!!.

A number of songs were thematically linked to movies. "2HB", with its punning title, was Ferry’s tribute to Humphrey Bogart and quoted the line "Here’s looking at you, kid" made famous by the film Casablanca (1942); "Chance Meeting" was inspired by David Lean's Brief Encounter (1945). "The Bob" took its title from Battle of Britain (1968) and included a passage simulating the sound of gunfire!!!!.

The band had been rehearsing and re-working the songs for a couple of months before they finally found a recording place, after which the entire album was recorded in the space of a single week. This was necessary because there was no record deal as yet, and their managers at EG were financing the sessions themselves. The album was produced by King Crimson's lyricist, Peter Sinfield, who recently had left that band. In May 1972, a few weeks after the recording sessions, a contract was signed with Island Records and in June the album was released.!!!!

The vinyl

This looks near pristine! I can't see any marks at all! In fact this has hardly ever been played at all! Perhapes  THREE times by me personaly only! (You can barely see two spider marks on the labels) This has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years! Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light would be sleeve removal marks only! (AMAIZINGLY I CAN'T SEE A BLEMISH AT ALL)!THE AUDIO IS TRULLY AWESOME YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER 1ST PRESS COPY! TOP! TOP! AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!! (no) clicks pops or any grooveware what so ever!!!!! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS VINYL!!!!!

please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the light static crackle\tick here and there (not) consistant throughout the audio! This is a genuine 36 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 36 year old system!!

This vinyl has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years and could benefit from a constant clean before each play! This would greatly reduce any static crackle and greatly enhance the audio quality!!!

This is the original plain white record sleeve  with patent number and 'Made in England' AS NEW CONDITION features the original tax code stamp! very rare!!!!

The Cover

This is the original and more desirable FULLY LAMINATED 'TINSLEY ROBOR GROUP' GATEFOLD COVER! In exceptional condition for a 1st press super glossy (no)storageware to mention! (no) marks\dents in the laminate!  very very light\slight signs of ringware at the rear can just be seen only angled to the light otherwise not noticable!!! The corners are lovely and sharp (no) real creases worth to talk of indeed! SUPERBE 1ST PRESS COVER!! VERY NEAR PRISTINE!!!!
