Ladies and Gentleman - welcome to a truly interdenominational Christmas! (this is the Christmas ALBUM even Osama could love – well, almost). We always found it rather entertaining that one of the most heartfelt and beautiful - not to mention original - Christmas albums ever recorded came from a Jewish guy in his early 20’s. Not only did this unorthodox attempt at mixing Christmas with Brooklyn aesthetics circa 1963 survived, it aged with such infinite grace that it became a perennial Christmas classic. This is the original PHILLES records issue of this album; the insanely rare STILL SEALED MONOpressing on Philles label. The wall of sound - a production method patented by Phil Spector (which involved - inter alia - torturing the artists for maximum effect: just ask Tina Turner who was tormented so badly during the recording of "River Deep, Mountain High" that her tight bra fell apart) - does not get any more vivid or palpable than here. This is a proverbial fortress of sound, consisting of multitude of overlapping layers of voices, sound effects, cascades of rhythm and ornamentation, AND IT COMES IN ITS ORIGINAL, GLORIOUS , BACK-TO-MONO version. A joyful, luscious, retrogressive, a*al-retentive, guilty-pleasure joy of Christmas past. Phil Spector is king!!! A KILLER ALBUM BY THE, ER…UM… ONE …(AHEM) KILLER ARTIST…Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!!  You are more likely to bump into very alive Lana Clarkson on Rodeo Drive this Christmas....

(a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).

(b)          The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           True Stereo ORIGINAL pressings of this album are NOT known to exist (reissues DO exist in stereo).

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

COVER IS STILL SEALED ; HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO GRADE IT NEAR MINT DUE TO MINOR FLAWS LISTED BELOW; WE GRADE THIS COVER AS VG++

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         The front (but not the back!) cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-         Front cover has a few yellowish dust speckles scattered here and there

-         Cover has a partially split bottom seam (between 1 and 2 inches  / 2.5 to 5 centimeters)

-         Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on the bottom seam.

-         Cover has a small quality control (inspection) stamp on the back panel

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3  (front side) and 2 (back side)

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-        A minor, faint water stain affects the area about 1/2 square inch (visible on both sides) in one corner; there is no structural damage to the cover, and both cardboard base and paper slick are intact, however, the stain is visible and has caused some erosion in the firmness of the cover in the affected area.

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No writing

-        No stickers or labels

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
