RARE!!   Rolling Stones LP. Original 1969 UK. DECCA.

“Through the Past Darkly”   ***Octagonal -  MONO!!!***

FIRST PRESSING!!

 

Up for auction is this rare original OCTAGONAL sleeve cover of the very much sought after and much scarcer MONO  version of this great Stones album.

 

This album has been played and shows only a couple of very light indiscretions on the playing surface of the vinyl. BUT, I must stress that these anomalies are only slight and the sounds are truly quite superb.

 

 

COVER:    Near Mint!!  The best I have seen of this very difficult cover. Because of the single page side of the gatefold, they were usually ripped and in some cases torn off. NOT SO with mine. The G/F join is totally intact with no splits nor writing. All the lamination is also totally intact  as are the flips, which are well stuck down. High gloss finish. You just have to own this one!!!

 

 

VINYL:  Just a couple of light scuffs  and some light hairlines showing under a strong halogen light which do not affect the superb quality of play. Still retains its just pressed glossy sheen and is perfectly flat with no warps, skips or jumps. Quite outstanding for this album.  Graded: a very strong  EX+.

 

 

 

LABELS:  Full deep colour on these original ‘open’ DECCA labels. Some light spindle trails present, otherwise clean and lovely.

STAMPERS:                  SIDE ONE :    1  K

SIDE TWO :   1  U   -   making this one of the very earliest  FIRST PRESSING examples.

 

INNER SLEEVE:      Superb. Correct red/white OCTAGONAL type as originally issued. Just amazing. The very best!!!    

 

 

 

AUDIO:  Amazing thumping MONO sounds. The few extremely light indiscretions show no presence off the surface of the top gloss vinyl. Only the very best top quality STONES sounds. Beautiful!!

 

 

To sum up. This album is quite something and a must for any serious STONES collector.  The outer cover and inner sleeve are the best you’ll find anywhere. But let’s not take anything away from the vinyl. It’s extremely good and the sounds are superb and truly classic.

 

 

This rare album does not surface very often, especially in such lovely condition, so don’t miss out. Grab yourself a large slice of great musical history  -  and enjoy!!
