Review

Without a doubt, no Rolling Stones album -- and, indeed, very few rock albums from any era -- split critical opinion as much as the Rolling Stones' psychedelic outing. Many dismiss the record as sub-Sgt. Pepper posturing; others confess, if only in private, to a fascination with the album's inventive arrangements, which incorporated some African rhythms, Mellotrons, and full orchestration. Never before or since did the Stones take so many chances in the studio. (courtesy Allmusic)

CONDITION OF THE RECORD:

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, we grade ALL records under a strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight).

  • WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG NEAR-MINT.   The original luster is very much in tact, and the vinyl is beautiful. A very MINIMAL number of superficial light, faint surface hair-like marks are seen (perhaps graying from age), and that's ONLY UNDER A LIGHT (and some may not see this with light). They DO NOT AFFECT PLAY. Only the beautiful quality of the music comes through. If more information is needed, please request.
  • Red mono labels show no wear (look as if very little play or no play). They look brand new!

CONDITION OF THE GATEFOLD '3-D' COVER:

The COVER IS... EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD+++.

The following flaws or imperfections are found on the cover:

  • Cover has very little corner wear. On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of corner wear as a 1.
  •
  • Cover has very little seam wear (NOT SIGNIFICANT). On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of seam wear as a <1.
  •
  • Cover 3-D panel shows very little wear (probably from storage or age). On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of cover wear as a 1.
  •
  • Cover shows a sticker; "PROMOTIONAL COPY - NOT FOR SALE".

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS FOUND ON THE COVER:

  • NO RING WEAR
  • NO ANGLE CUTS
  • SAW MARKS
  • NO WARPING
  • NO CUT-OUT CORNERS
  • NO WRITING
  • NO TEARING OR NICKS ON SEAMS
  • NO MOLD
