ROLLING STONES – "THE ROLLING STONES" – LK 4605 – 1st Pressing
This really is the original 1964 Decca mono first pressing of "The Rolling Stones" catalogue number LK 4605 with 2.52 minutes version of "Tell Me" and Side 2 Matrix No. XARL 6272-1A.
And the sound quality is great !
There are a LOT of scratches and surface marks on both sides. We have listened very critically to the whole record – Side 1: 2 very light ticks on Track 1 and ticks BETWEEN Tracks 1 & 2; Track 3 has about 15 light ticks and occasional light crackle but nothing intrusive. The rest of the side plays perfectly. Side 2 has a brief crackle BEFORE the start and about 10 light random ticks scattered elsewhere. And that’s all ! No background noise, no jumps or sticks. Definitely a case of playing better than it looks. Both Decca labels have evidence of sticky label removal. The sleeve is very scruffy and dirty with considerable edge/corner wear/creasing. Owner’s name in ink on rear.
