ROLLING STONES STICKY FINGERS VINYL ALBUM
You are viewing my rarely seen 12" vinyl album from 1971 entitled, 'STICKY FINGERS' recorded by THE ROLLING STONES. This is a UK Pressing.
Released on the 'new' ROLLING STONES label, with reference number COC 59100, this STEREO recording has the matrix numbers of COC 59100-A4 (Side One) and ACOC 59100-B3 (Side Two).
"Sticky Fingers is the ninth British studio album by the English rock band The Rolling Stones, released in April 1971. It is the band's first album of the 1970s and its first release on the band's newly-formed label, Rolling Stones Records, after having been contracted since 1963 with DECCA in the UK. It is also Mick Taylors first full-length appearance on a Rolling Stones album, and the first not to feature any contributions from founding guitarist Brian Jones.
The album's artwork emphasises the suggestive innuendo of the Sticky Fingers title, showing a close-up of a jeans-clad male crotch; the cover of the original (vinyl) release featured a working zipper and mock belt. The vinyl release displayed the band's name and album title along the image of the belt. Behind the belt, the name of American pop artist Andy Warhol is stamped on card, below this name is the text, "THIS PHOTOGRAPH MAY NOT BE --ETC". While the artwork was conceived by Warhol, photography was by Billy Name and design by Craig Braun."
The Rolling Stones line up at the time of this recording comprised of: Mick Jagger, Mick Taylor, Charlie Watts, Keith Richards and Bill Wyman. The tracks on this classic Stones album are:
Side One:
- Brown Sugar
- Sway
- Wild Horses
- Can't You Hear Me Knocking
- You Gotta Move
- Bitch
- I Got The Blues
- Sister Morphine
- Dead Flowers
- Moonlight Mile
This is the first issue album cover that has the working zipper. This is probably the best example of this album cover I have seen, even the buckle is complete and (apart from a crease) is is super condition. It is bright, clean and remains in excellent condition. The spine remains complete without any creases or tears. Behind the buckle is the attached insert that contains the detail, 'ANDY WARHOL THIS PHOTOGRAPH MAY NOT BE -- ETC'. I grade this album cover EX.
This album is supplied with the rarely seen insert that contains the black and white photograph of the 'Stones on one side and the album listing with red tongue and red lips on the other (refer to photographs 2 & 4).
This vinyl record will be posted in a top quality cruciform style record mailer.
