For auction the very rare Rolling Stones Album 'Their Satanic Majesties Request' South African pressing stereo.
This album 'The Stones Are Rolling' is the South African equivalent to 'Their Satanic Majesties Request' and is quite unique in title and the use of the cover for the South African Market. The sleeve is a non gatefold one with both front and back shown in the photos. Although slight differences can be detected on the label to that of those designed for the UK market, this disc was pressed here for export to a specific market only i.e. South Africa. It was shipped only to that country and now extremely hard to find.
In 1967 when the the Rolling Stones management wanted to release "Their Satanic Majesties Request" in South Africa, they were met with strong objections from the Government, right-wing extremists and religious groups to the use of the word 'Satanic' in the title. The Stones management therefore agreed to a name change for the album solely for distribution in South Africa. A new name for the LP, "The Stones are Rolling", was conjured up and local covers were designed and pressed in South Africa by Interpak, with the new title and some major differences to the traditional UK/rest of the world 1st pressing covers - for instance, this sleeve is a laminated non-gatefold with a pinched spine, it has no 3D effect or any pictures of the band dressed as Wizards! It has the maze on the front with "Its Here" printed in psychedelic print as the centre. It has TXL 103 printed on the rear cover. The new title "The Stones are Rolling" appears both on the front and rear covers. The tracks on the LP are exactly as in other 1st pressings - only the cover changed.This cover is therefore unique to South Africa and has not been used anywhere else.
Condition: Sleeve has some light creasing, no writings, spine is complete.
