LET IT BLEED

LK 5025 Original and the rarer mono  pressing of this monumental Stones classic! The last release of the Stones catalogue and the first original material released after Brian Jones death.

Only a small number issued with the red boxed Decca logo on labels as mono recordings were going into decline at this time and the more affordable stereo records were becoming more and more popular as they were a great innovation for that era. Therefore these particular boxed mono pressings were in little demand and were phased out very quickly with only a very limited number produced, hence the apparent rarity .

POSTER

Many lost, ripped or discarded. This poster is present and truly a magnificent specimen in Nr MINT condition. Hardly seen the light of day. Sensational condition and I doubt whether it has been unfolded. Ultra clean and as new with corners sharp and pointed. Folds extremely sharp and crisp. Awesome feel and a sight to behold!

Stickered sleeve

The cover displays a surreal sculpture designed by Robert Brownjohn. The image consists of the Let It Bleed record being played by the antique tone-arm of a turntable, which is fitted with a tall record-changer-style spindle supporting, in place of a stack of records, a number of items stacked on a dinner plate (bottom-to-top): a magnetic tape/movie reelcanister labelled Stones - Let It Bleed; a clock face; a pizza a small tyre; a cake with kitsch icing, reminiscent of art-deco-style plaster rendering, and the band itself in the form of wedding-style topping figures. The cake parts of the album cover construction were prepared by then unknown cookery writer Delia Smith The

Beautifully laminated front face with a near mint sticker sitting proudly on display for all to view. Many seemed to be dislodged or removed but this one is a beauty.Sleeve with peep hole on reverse face. Early issue with a clipped spine. No rips or tears. Spine clearly shows title. No prominent edge / spinal wear and a pleasure to view. A few laminate creases but the sheen from the front face is outstanding. Shows very light handling as many were fingered so much, the shiny surface became dulled with a matt finish on most of these wonderful covers. The lamination on this is quite stunning with a long vertical spinal edge. , not to mention its visual impact. Feels ultra clean and a solid example . Very good plus, and a beautiful album cover with hardly any discoloration on reverse face. Superb!

Back Cover.

The reverse of the LP sleeve shows the same "record-stack" melange partially "consumed", with a slice of the uppermost cake layer removed; the tyre hacked and nailed, bandaged and patched; film stray from the tape/film canister; and the supporting plate chipped; a slice of pizza with a bite taken lies on the shattered vinyl, along with the detached tone-arm -- as if evidence of the aftermath of a wild party.

The track listing on the record sleeve does not follow the tracklisting on the record. According to Brownjohn, he altered the track listing purely for visual reasons.

Original Inner red lyric sleeve, Un-censord

Slight creasing but only . . Ex- condition.

Labels

Red mono BOXED Decca logo and how wonderful these appear against the jet black of the vinyl. Only issued for a short period of time when the more coveted stereo recordings were just beginning to emerge so they were left on the shelf so to speak and therefore were phased out quite quickly. So rare and in excellent condition.Only a light spindle trace with silver text unfaded, shiny and with a fresh pressed appearance. Superb examples of a highly desirable label format.

Audio

The clarity of these audio channels is very good.Tones are conveyed with a profound depth and a finite precision. The wider channels from the mono perspective deliver each magnificent track like no other. No distortion detected which is quite unusual against these mono releases that were heavily played with weighty stylii which caused massive groove wear and surface damage. There is no doubt that this record has been lightly played. Have listened very closely and will award a solid very good grading with very little to fault. There is slight surface noise primarily between tracks , this dose very little to affect the presentation.and the listening expei ance remains great The only fault, if you considder this a fault is some slight signs from sleeve removal.

Glyn Jones and G. Chiantz engineered. Need I say more? Leon Russell, Madeleine Bell, Ry Cooder and Nicky Hopkins are all included on this fantastic release.

The Tenor sax on Live With Me has to be heard,as these audio channels delivers like no other. So to summarise, audio is mostly excellent with some quieter parts vgood+ .

Vinyl

A lovely record and becoming more and more difficult to locate in this remarkable condition. AND very collectable as it comes complete with original stickered sleeve, red lyrics inner and the elusive poster. A superb example of a mega rare Stones release.
