Description
Up for auction is a nice, early pressing of The Rolling Stones album Beggars Banquet, originally released in the U.S. on London Records (PS 539) in 1968:
-Guaranteed original pressing, NOT reissue -Original matte blue London labels (important!) -Original gold bordered paste-down gatefold cover -Original and correct pink bordered London inner sleeve -Matrix reads: XZAL-8477A XZAL-8477B -"Prodigal Son" song credit on label to "Rev Wilkins" -Does NOT say "Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards" on the back cover -No UPC/bar code on cover -Vinyl comes in poly audiophile protective inner sleeve
Note: Original pressings had matte blue London labels, while later pressings used the common semi-gloss dark blue labels.
Condition: Cover is very nice, still has its original shine, no ring wear or seam splits. Still bright white, not age discolored like most originals. Light rubbing here and there. Faint aging on back along top of spine. Top edge near corner shows some wear (see photo). Interior is clean. Spine is tight, never been opened flat. Titles on spine are clear and legible. Very nicely preserved. Grade: Excellent (EX), better than most VG+ copies you'll find
Vinyl is also nice, still has much of its original shine. No obvious scratches or scuffs, but under a strong light, a few tiny hairlines show up probably from taking the vinyl out of the inner sleeve. Side Two label has some a small stamp and writing on it (see photo). Looks like this record has been played some but handled with care. Audio quality is very nice, but not audiophile perfect like a CD or MFSL pressing obviously. Grade: Excellent (EX)
