Aftermath is the fourth UK and sixth US studio album by The Rolling Stones and was released in 1966. The album proved to be a major artistic breakthrough for The Rolling Stones in that it was the first full-length release by the band to exclusively feature Mick Jagger/Keith Richards compositions.

The album is also notable for its musical experimentation, with Brian Jones - possibly inspired by George Harrisons use of sitar on The Beatles' Rubber Soul - playing a variety of instruments which feature prominently in each track, including the sitar on "Paint It Black", and the dulcimer on "Lady Jane" and "I Am Waiting".

Once again, two editions of the album were released. The first release of Aftermath appeared in April of 1966 as a fourteen-track long-player, and is considered by many to be the definitive version. Issued between the non-LP single releases of "19th Nervous Breakdown" and "Paint It, Black", Aftermath proved a big smash, spending eight weeks atop the UK charts.

In the US however, fourteen tracks was considered too many. With a substituted cover art, the American edition of Aftermath, released that June, features a subtly re-shuffled running order that eliminates "Out Of Time", "Take It Or Leave It" and "What To Do" (all later released in the US), while replacing "Mother's Little Helper" with current #1 hit "Paint It, Black". Despite compromising producer Andrew Loog Oldham's and The Rolling Stones' intentions for the album, the revamped Aftermath shot to #2 in the US, eventually going platinum. In 2002, the US edition of Aftermath was ranked number 108

  1. "Mother's Little Helper" – 2:45
  2. "Stupid Girl" – 2:55
  3. "Lady Jane" – 3:08
  4. "Under My Thumb" – 3:41
  5. "Doncha Bother Me" – 2:41
  6. "Going Home" – 11:13
  7. "Flight 505" – 3:27
  8. "High and Dry" – 3:08
  9. "Out of Time" – 5:37
  10. "It's Not Easy" – 2:56
  11. "I Am Waiting" – 3:11
  12. "Take It or Leave It" – 2:47
  13. "Think" – 3:09
  14. "What to Do" – 2:32

The vinyl

On initial visual inspection i can hardly see a blemish!!! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable!!!! This is the original thicker and deeper grooved type of vinyl only found on original early pressings later pressings were much more flimsier and less robust. In very strong light any marks that could be seen would have been caused by the vinyl being slid in and out of its record sleeve. Very very few inobtrusive light suface scuffs  I can ( not) see any needle scratches or marks that would effect the play at all!!!!

I have played this vinyl as usual track for track on a top system. The audio is awesome, cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through, Please note i heard (no) clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl and certainly (no) skips or jumps! To be highly critical there was very light static crackle and the odd stati tick could be heard in between tracks but very minimal but during the audio it is truly awesome!!! This is so rare to find like this and in this condition. The audio on this very rare vinyl will be hard to surpass and I rate this audio at the top!!!!

There is (no) clicks pops certainly (no) jumps or skips or any signs of grooveware or that this vinyl has been overplayed at all!!!!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! That I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this vinyl. and have played it through track for track.  Please allow for the odd static tick\crackle here and there (not) consistant through out the audio!!! Remember this is an original (not) a reissue that is 42 years old and would have been played on a system that is 42 years old!! Plkease look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!

IMPORTANT NOTE! This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! A build up of dirt and dust over the years trapped in the grooves causes static ticks and crackle! From my experiance this vinyl would benefit from a constant clean before each play! This would drastically reduce static crackle\ticks and greatly improve the audio quality!!!! I MUST EMPHISISE THAT THE AUDIO IS CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT ALL THE WAY THROUGH WITH NO SIGNS OF DISTORTION OR THAT THIS HAS BEEN OVERPLAYED AT ALL! IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS VINYL HAS BARELY EVER BEEN PLAYED!

TOP! TOP! AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!

The audio is graded at the top!!!!

The Labels,

These are the original ''unboxed'' DECCA labels with the familier groove!!!! In absolutely superbe condition near perfect with (no) nasty names written on them and very minimal signs of any spidering can only be seen in strong light!! THIS LOKS LIKE IT HAS BARELY EVER BEEN PLAYED !  SPIDER MARKS CAN BE COUNTED!!! (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round an excellent example rarely seen like this!!!!! Made in England is featured (only UK press) and k.t. tax code (only 1st press)

The record Sleeve.

This is the original poly lined sleeve with (no) splits or tares just light general browning with age and light creasings but overall in super condition!!!! and original!!!!!

The cover

Printed by Robert Stace is unbelievably rare to find these originals in this condition!!! usually seen with nasty names written on them and in a terrible state. I have tried to take as many photos as i can get away with. This is truly superbe like this!!!!!

(No) splits A very small tare looks like it is beginning to form on the fron opening edge ! hardly noticable in my opinion unless you look for it!(see photos)!! and amaizingly hardly any creases!, barly noticable small creases at the opening edge that's all!   can be clearly seen in photos. The corners are lovely and square. The rear is absolutely exceptionaly clean LIKE NEW! (no)edgeware scuffing and even more amazing the writing can be clearly seen!!! (see photos) Really don't underestemate the rarety of this cover!!!!!!

In my opinion this very rare and sought after album will be hard to surpass and being the rarest in (mono) makes this album even more desirable!!!!!!
