1st PRESS UNBOXED DECCA LK 4605
PLAYS 2.52 VERSION OF "TELL ME"
MATRIX No's XARL 6271-1A / 6272-1A
GRADED EX- / VG

This is the very first pressing of the first Rolling Stones Lp on the unboxed and grooved Decca label that plays the 2.52 version of "Tell Me" and with the side 2 matrix number XARL 6272-1A. This is a very rare Stones album especially in this condition. The vinyl has a few bag scuffs and a few spindle trails indicating that this album has been played a few times but it has been well looked after. I am very happy to say that this record plays superbly well with no skips, jumps, hiss or noticeable ticks. In fact after playing this record through at a loud volume I only noticed 3 or 4 barely noticeable clicks; and I mean barely noticeable. This record plays with astonishing clarity and punch which is a glowing testament to first press Decca vinyl of the 1960's. The only crackle is of a very low level only noticeable between tracks and this vinyl which weighs in at around 144g fully merits the EX- grading I have given it. The minus is purely for the bag scuffs and spindle trails. The audio merits a full excellent. Please note that my pictures of the matrix numbers show some round marks which are just reflections and not on the vinyl; sorry for my inferior photography! The sleeve whilst having no major faults or writing does slightly show its 48 years with a 1" closed tear to rear opening edge and tiny closed tear to front opening edge (see pictures). There is also ringwear, creased bottom right corner, general light creasing and a little age discolouration to rear. Hence the VG rating. The original mono Decca inner is of the heavier paper variety and is intact but age discoloured but the record will be housed in a better conditioned lighter paper mono Decca inner. Overall then this very rare 1st press record will be very hard to find better sonically although the sleeve whist adequate could be improved upon. Low start and no reserve. Thanks for looking.
