Description
Label: Philips
Matrix Code: 6308 075 1Y/1 420 & 2Y/1 420
Year: 1971
Condition: This rare record is in near mint condition. There are a couple of surface marks on the record but neither have any effect when the record is played. I have just listened to the whole album and cannot believe how superb it sounds (no crackling or pops). It comes housed in a laminated cover in its original white sleeve. I would describe the cover as being in excellent condition with no rips or tears however there is a bit of scuffing on the corners and very light ringwear.
Further info: Rockin' Horse was formed by ex-Merseybeat Billy Kinsley (bass) and ex-Kirkbys/23rd Turnoff member Jimmy Campbell (guitar, vocals). The two got together in 1971 and the group lasted long enough to record an album for Philips entitled Yes It Is. They split up in 1972, though Kinsley later initially revived the name in putting together a new group in 1975, before switching to the name Liverpool Express. The goal of Rockin' Horse was to revive the classic Liverpool sound -- in that regard, Yes It Is is a phenomenal album. Jimmy Campbell and ex-Merseybeats bassist Billy Kinsley delivered up a record with a good rootsy feel to everything here, and the stuff that fits into a Merseybeat groove is authentic right down to the roughness in the bass work.
