You should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! By 1985, Duran Duran were kings of the pop world, and instead of releasing another album right away, they took a break and ventured into "splinter" groups. Nick, Simon, and Roger formed Arcadia, while John and Andy hooked up with Robert Palmer and Tony Thompson for the Power Station. The result is this debut album that sounds nothing like Duran Duran. While much of the attention went to John and Andy Taylor, I have to agree that the real stars were underrated drummer Tony Thompson and vocalist Robert Palmer. "Some Like it Hot," "Communication," and "Murderess" are guitar-fueled pop numbers that work mainly due to Tony's excellent drumming and Andy Taylor's guitar work. Their covers are tremendous system testers. The cover of T. Rex's "Get it On," will work your speakers to death and "Harvest for the World."   sounds really good. As with every Duran Duran release, this LP got a bad rap from some critics back in the day but Pay them no mind and grab this solid disc. It will make your system sound great.

Robert Palmer's career has spanned over 25 years and encompassed any number of musical styles from jazz, r&b, reggae, pop, funk to the harder dance sounds heard on "Some Like It Hot" as a member of the Power Station. Palmer's career commenced in the 60s and throughout the years received a number of awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance (for "Addicted To Love") and a MTV Video Music Award.

The Collected double vinyl album from Robert Palmer is a selected overview of his music, some lesser known tracks are alternated with hits like "Every Kinda People", "Johnny And Mary", "Pride", "Addicted To Love" and many more. His collaboration with musicians from different backgrounds were successful leading up to recording (the Bob Dylan written) "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" with English reggae band UB40. This single became a worldwide hit, reaching the top 10 in Holland and United Kingdom, as well as achieving solid chart positions in the USA, Germany and France.

Sadly the musical genius and true superstar Robert Palmer passed away, succumbing to a heart attack in 2003, only 54 years old.
