Description
Ritchie Valens, Little Girl b/w We Belong Together, Del-Fi 4117, with picture sleeve and rare insert. This is a listing for the Ritchie Valens Memorial 45 of Little Girl and We Belong Together. It has the picture sleeve and the original ULTRA RARE "CONCERNING THIS RECORD AND RITCHIE VALENS" insert. The picture sleeve is in incredibly near mint minus condition. There are seven minor pin holes in the upper left corner of the side bearing the "Limited Valens Memorial Series" logo. These pin holes have not been widened from reuse. They are cleanly pierced holes. You really have to look hard to see them in the images below. If anyone would like close-up shots, please e-mail me. I'll be glad to provide them. From my eBay auction software I am unable to depict more than five images at a time. There are also a couple of near microscopic (I'm not exaggerating) wrinkles where wrinkles typically form on a picture sleeve (at the top). However, these wrinkles are mild. They are not creases. Most importantly, they are not noticeable like they would be on most picture sleeves, the reason being that the sleeve is made of a tough thick-finish paper and not the slick, thin paper like most sleeves that have a near laminated finish. When wrinkles form on the latter, they particularly show because they often cause cracks in the paper and show white spots. Such is not the case with this sleeve. The paper in the top area lies flat and has not been ruffled. In fact, you could own the sleeve for a really long time and not realize they are there, like I did not! Until my listing of this piece, I was not aware either. It was only after close inspection that I noticed the wrinkles. There is also a 1/16" tear, or "pre-tear" from the top. I call it a "pre-tear" because the paper has never been separated. As a result this flaw is difficult to notice. Aside from these flaws, the sleeve is stone cold mint! I know that there are those of you who do not like "except for" grades, but they do help to describe an item's condition better since it is the flaws that we notice the most and that bother us the most! Included with the picture sleeve is a custom matte board insert for protection and a nice Japanese resealable outer sleeve. The record will be contained in a separate sleeve for protection. The insert will be separated from both the sleeve and record for its own protection. A matte board insert will come with the picture sleeve for additional protection. Matte board should always be used instead of cardboard for picture sleeve protection because the oils contained in cardboard will damage the paper over time and cause discoloration. The insert is sensationally rare! Please refer to eBay listing #4826911631. In that listing the seller sold the same item but with a copy instead of the rare insert. He stated that he was maintaining the original in his "own vast Valens collection." He also placed the value of his original at $400. The insert being offered here is ORIGINAL and not a copy! The insert offers a free copy of the special booklet, "The Story Behind The Ritchie Valens Album." The insert also offers theretofore 8 X 10 unpublished photos of Ritchie for 50 cents each (THERE IS STILL TIME TO SEND AWAY!). The address given is naturally located in "Hollywood 28, California" and predates the use of state abbreviations and zip codes! The insert is in VG+ condition due to three flaws. There is minor wrinkling and only slight creasing. There is a minor tear and slight paper deterioration in the upper left corner. There is also a center split in the perforation that enables one to tear off the mailing coupon. This is actually kind of neat in a way. It is difficult for the center only to be perforated! It adds credibility to the authenticity of the insert. The tear spans roughtly the center one-quarter of the total widthwide perforation. Bob Keene authored the note offering the free booklet and the 50-cent photos to record purchasers. The record visually and play grades in beautiful VG+ condition. However, it is made of styrene and plays with some slight noise and loss of highs (resulting in the VG+ grade), likely a result of the styrene press. Buy this piece for the picture sleeve and insert and look for a "mix and match" unplayed store stock copy 45 to go along with it! The labels are near mint plus. Don't let this magnificent piece pass you by! The record was play graded on an audiophile system employing Basis Ovation, Graham Industries, Transfiguration, Sound Applications, and Jeff Rowland electronics.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR BIDDERS WITHIN THE UNITED STATES: Satisfaction is guaranteed on a money back basis with postage BOTH ways. Domestic buyer assumes responsibility for a $7.00 charge for insured first class mail with a delivery confirmation. Insurance and delivery confirmations are required for all domestic shipments. Payments made with these charges subtracted will not be accepted. Only professional packaging materials are used for shipping. Items paid for through PayPal will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. I generally always ship on the date I receive cleared funds or within one day thereafter. Personal checks require a hold of ten business days for clearance. All domestic sales must be paid for within seven days of an auction's end. If you do not pay online, and your mail service as a sender is slow, don't bother bidding!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOR BIDDERS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES (PAYPAL PAYERS SEE ALSO SECTION BELOW): Uninsured Airmail Letter Post is used for international shipping due to its popularity. Rates are as follows: Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean $6.00; South America $8.00; Europe $9.00; Asia, Africa, and Australia $10.00. Due to the high cost of related shipping, satisfaction is guaranteed on a money back basis exclusive of shipping costs. No guarantees can be made for safe delivery, or delivery at all, for that matter, for international shipments that are not sent by registered or insured mail. If you would like registered or insured mail, please e-mail me for rates. The charges stated for international transactions include the fee for a Certificate of Mailing, which is validated and canceled by the United States Postal Service and provides proof that I have mailed an article to you. Also included is a modest charge to cover the additional time and energy required for international transactions, such as correspondence, customs declarations, translations, etc. Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian are spoken. Shipping rates are not negotiable! I do not enjoy paying them any more than you do. Please consider when you bid that your shipping costs are part of your total purchase price. Surface mail outside the United States will not be considered. I do not want your record dragged along the ocean floor! Feedback on eBay can only be posted for 90 days. Transactions that involve surface mail have insufficient time during which problems can be resolved that might influence feedback either way. Cash (currency) is acceptable for international transactions but must be sent by registered mail unless otherwise mutually agreed upon. I generally always ship on the date I receive cleared funds or within one day thereafter. All international sales must be paid for within fourteen days of an auction's end. No exceptions!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS PAYING WITH PAYPAL: All sales of $40 or more paid for through PayPal require the use of registered mail at an additional cost of $8.00. This is because if your item is lost in the mail you can under PayPal's Buyer Protection Program obtain a full refund from PayPal including shipping charges (less a $25 processing fee). However, this will result in a chargeback to me! PayPal states that the only way a seller can be protected against chargeback is if a shipping method is used that permits online tracking such as registered, insured, or express mail. The most practical and safest method to protect against loss in the mail is with registered mail. If your sale is for less than $40, you are not required to use registered mail. If you do not use registered mail, I must disclaim all liability for loss in the mail. This means that if your record is lost, you cannot file a claim with PayPal. Please realize that I obtain certificates of mailing for all international shipments. The certificate of mailing proves that I have mailed an article to you. Although the contents are not described, if I were to send you anything other than your record, you would know it! An image of this certificate or the original certificate itself can always be furnished to you upon request. So, if your record is lost, you must bear the risk yourself for loss in the mail unless you purchase necessary protection at an additional cost. I must disclose this policy in order to avoid liability to PayPal myself. Realize that PayPal's Buyer Protection Program is an excellent means for insuring your record. However, you must pay for the additional cost of registered mail (or insured or express mail if you prefer).-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SPECIAL RULES FOR WHO MAY USE PAYPAL: Those who are new to eBay (or who haven't used it in a long time) and those with private feedback may not be permitted to use PayPal. Unauthorized international PayPal transactions are charged back to sellers. Feedback is used to verify your purchasing history. You may have an excellent eBay feedback rating and demonstrated creditworthiness for PayPal purposes, but that doesn't mean that you are the one who is using your accounts! The issue is one of identity, NOT creditworthiness. It is totally possible that a true eBay or PayPal account holder does not know what a vinyl record even looks like! Yet, the person using such accountholder's identity may know! If your identity is stolen, it will be unlikely that the thief responsible will also be a collector of vinyl records. That person will likely purchase merchandise with your account that you are not accustomed to buying. I must see a pattern for purchasing records more than 60 days prior to an auction end. If your feedback is private, you may be able to provide me with a sufficient number of completed listing numbers for listings 60 to 90 days (Older listings may no longer be saved in eBay's database) or give me the user code names of sellers who by their name are obviously vinyl record sellers who have posted feedback for you at any time prior to 60 days before an auction end. You may also temporarily publish your feedback in order for me to review it and then change it back to private status after I have done so. This can all be done in a matter of a few minutes if we are both able to communicate by e-mail at the same time. THESE RULES ARE SO THAT I MAY GET PAID AND STAY PAID! Kindly accept my apologies for any inconvenience. Other sellers may not have such strict rules because they may be unaware of their exposure to PayPal chargebacks. If you think you may not qualify to use PayPal, kindly bid assuming that PayPal will not be possible and do not be offended if a request to use PayPal is not granted.
