Description

This is my VG / VG  copy of this RARE UK VINYL LP by RICO - "RICO IN REGGAE LAND" - released on PAMA Records - ECO 14. This is a GREAT record. I have to say that because it simply is! The reason it is for sale is that I have found a better copy so this one can now move to a new home! It has been 'loved' a little too much over the years, but it is so rare that you will be happy with it - as I was when I found it! The disc has been played and there is some noise present between the tracks, but nothing to spoil the music itself. On this great LP, Rico 'plays' his personal tribute to his friend from his younger days, DON DRUMMONDS, who had died earlier that year (1969). But this is no sad affair, this is a fine slice of up-beat REGGAE for dancing! The vinyl itself still looks shiny, but there are a couple of visible surface marks, but these do not sound when playing the record. The strong lustre and shine on the record made me wonder if it may have been 'skimmed', but I never worried about this because the LP plays so well and sounds so good with a massive bottom end and that's all I am interested in. The sleeve is a decent VG, still strong and firm feeling with a fully readable spine but there are laminate creases on the front cover, nothing un-sightly, but they are there! There is NO actual bending of the sleeve to cause these laminate creases, just the usual effect of a busy 38 years! Remember this LP was made to PLAY - not sit on a bloody shelf! Also there is damage to the top l/h corner of the front cover where the colour and laminate have been rubbed away and a couple of cms. of the same along the top of the sleeve, but as you can see from the photo it still looks generally fine. The rear of the sleeve is white card and this is still pretty clean. A previous owner has drawn three flowers on the back, again a pity, but nothing too large or horrible and after all it was still the 60's! This was my copy and I was very happy with it, but it is rare and I would ask bidders to be aware of my honest comments. I have known MINT copies of this one go for over two hundred pounds and it books at £125 and we all know what that means! Under-valued!  But.....if it was me, I would pay £50 for this copy, which is exactly what I did when I got it! And by the way, the PAMA orange labels are fine and on Side One in small print is hand written the message "20p" ! - I wish I'd found it for that price! And no doubt dear reader so do you! LOOKS GOOD, SOUNDS GREAT. RICOS FINEST? It's up, to you.
