  RICO RODRECEZ - SOUL MAN, 1968 PAMA, PM 706, MINT COND. b/w It's Not Unusual. Ska/Soul covers by 2-tone legend Please note: In the pictures above the smudge mark appearing at the bottom left of the record is from my scanner, not a mark on the vinyl, and is clearly present in almost all of my listings on-line now. 1968 Solo single from Rico Rodriguez (spelt "Rodrecez" on this release), two instrumental covers featuring the unmistakable saxophone sound of this ska legend who went onto play with the Specials at the end of the 1970's. Soul Man is a fairly routine cover with Rico taking on the vocal lines with his Sax. Flip it over and you get the most sublime version of Tom Jones' classic "It's Not Unusual". Performed in a superbly laid back manner, Rico's playing leads the tune in a direction Mr Jones probably never envisioned. On the collectable Pama label this single is in virtually new condition. Can only have been played a handful times, still looks and sounds like new. A quality addition to any ska collection.
