Description

TITLE/ARTIST: This extremely rare and highly collectible "THEATRE PROMOTIONAL RECORD" is entitled "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans", from the film "The Wackiest Ship In The Army" in 1960. Apparently, it was only distributed to those who attended this specific theatre showing of the film. It is on an original, white promo label (presumably Columbia like the movie--but no name is actually mentioned on the label), and it is performed by the 1950-60's RnR/movie star legends, Ricky Nelson (singing) and Jack Lemmon (playing). Amazingly, this promotional record is recorded on ONE SIDE ONLY--the other side is blank. The label mentions that "sale or broadcast of this 45 record is prohibited" (see the pics below). Please read on for more details on this record, but know that I also have many other very rare and highly collectible 45's to list this summer, so please stay in touch with my site.

LABEL INFO: The actual record company is not specifically mentioned on the label, but I would presume it was distributed by the same company that produced the film---Columbia. It is in very, very nice shape---with no flaws to mention at all. In fact, I see no signs of spindle marks/lines around the center hole at all, leading me to believe it wasn't played very much, if even at all;

VINYL INFO: Likewise, the vinyl is extremely shiny, clean and nice, and just about perfect in my opinion----it is very close to "like new" in condition with perhaps just a couple extremely light (and totally uneventful) surface/paper lines on it at all.

INTERESTING FACTS: You just don't see this particular 45 out there at all---espiecally in this kind of great condition---and it would seem like a great addition to someone's Ricky Nelson collection.

In addition, I will be listing many other rare and collectible 1950-60's EP's/45's/PS's in my upcoming auctions this summer (including artists like The Marvelettes (45&PS), The Supremes (45&PS), Buddy Holly (promo 45), Bill Haley (promo 45), Gene Vincent (promo 45), Dion and The Belmonts (45&PS), Michael Landon ("Little Joe" from Bonanza sings too---promo 45), more Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones and much more as well. So, please continue to check out this site---I also list rare and collectible LPs as well. In fact, I'm well into my personal collection, and most all of these records are near mint and quite rare.

GOOD LUCK BIDDING!! When attempting to view my pictures, please be a little patient as they do take a few seconds to fully focus---but they do come in. And, if anyone ever needs more info/pics than what is listed, please email me. I will respond!!

POSTAGE/HANDLING CHARGES are as follow: In the United States, buyer agrees to pay $2.00 for the first 45/EP purchased, and then just $.50 per record after that-----so, buy in quantity and save. These are U.S. rates only, and all foreign winners will have to email me for their exact costs. I accept payments by way of money orders, good checks, and/or PAYPAL. Again, please continue to check out "rogersrecords" on ebay for future collectible records of all types. There are many more to come!
