Description

This is the very rare second album by Richard "Dimples" Fields, a San Francisco Bay Area soul artist who went on later to make some hits and produce Betty Wright and the Ohio Players and others. But here in 1973 he was at the do-it-yourself stage, and this record was self-released on his own label, Dat Richfield Kat. The cover is an iconic classic, often seen as one of the great humorous soul album covers ever. Dimples is shown holding a bucket and box of Kentucky Fried Chicken...

Anyhow this is the original 1973 album, never properly distributed and produced in a very small quantity (I read one place it was only 300 copies, but who knows?). This copy is in a very strong and very nice VG+ shape. Some marks and scuffs on the discs, but they play really well. There is occasional faint background noise and the occasional light pop, but overall the whole 4 sides play beautifully. WAY better than most copies I have seen, which have been utterly destroyed. The cover is also VG+, with some ringwear and overall shelf wear and signs of use, but not ripped or bent, no seam splits (well, about a half inch at the bottom), and no dog ears. A really lovely copy that is maybe even worth framing, and definitely well worth playing. Beautiful.
