R.E.M. Life's Rich Pageant Numbered Limited Edition 180 GRAM MFSL LP
Numbered, Limited Edition! Half-Speed Mastered From the Original Master Tapes: Mobile Fidelity’s LP Exposes Benefits of Cleaner, More Forceful Production!
1986 Landmark Finds R.E.M. Blossoming Into Iconic Artists: Arguably the Quartet’s Finest-Ever Outing
First R.E.M. Record to Feature Vocals on an Equal Plane With Rhythms: Subtle Details and Concerted Purposes Unite Under Banner of Ageless Art
Includes Hit Singles “Fall on Me,” “Superman,” and “Begin the Begin”
Very few albums are regularly credited with changing people’s lives. R.E.M.’s Life’s Rich Pageant is one of them. For a generation that came of age in the '80s, as well almost everyone that came within earshot of its contents, the Georgia band’s 1986 landmark effort remains an utterly distinctive sonic blend of elegance and whimsy, seriousness and humor, artfulness and accessibility. It’s here that R.E.M. evolves beyond its college-rock identity albeit retains its youthful innocence, here where Michael Stipe’s enigmatic vocals finally attain the same level of prominence as the group’s potent rhythm section.
Half-speed mastered from the original master tapes and meticulously pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity’s 180g LP version of this masterwork allows the record’s expressive punchiness, dynamic extension, treble-driven jangle, and more forceful playing to be experienced as originally intended. Indeed, Life’s Rich Pageant is notable for its production: Board operator Don Gehman lends the group a harder edge and cleaner sound than it had in the past. On this audiophile-grade reissue, the results come to the fore in the form of contemporary-sounding arrangements, cohesive structures, and cleaner tonalities. If anything, this LP helps make the case for the many that Life’s Rich Pageant—not Murmur or Reckoning—stands as the band’s finest hour.
Lyrically, R.E.M. hits upon more concrete themes, and while Stipe’s occasionally mumbled singing still lacks clear enunciation — a trait that adds to the songs’ mystique and surrounding textures — there’s no mistaking the overt political and environmental sentiments in tunes such as the hit “Fall on Me” and gorgeous “Cuyahoga.” Similarly, “Flowers of Guatemala” epitomizes R.E.M.’s hallmark ability to turn allegory into dreamy poetry, the counterpoint melodies, atmospheric guitar fills, and majestic bridges all enchanting devices of a band that manages to get its point across via spiritual performances and indirect suggestiveness.
Such qualities lie at the heart of Life’s Rich Pageant, on which subtle details and concerted purposes unite to make transcendent, lasting art. Bolder, more pronounced, refined, and immediate than that on previous efforts, Mike Mills’ bass lines and Peter Buck’s swelling guitar passages augment the hard-driving beats as well as Stipe’s increasingly upfront vocals. Disposing with the intentional murkiness and subconscious approach of earlier records, R.E.M. goes in attack mode here, with even mellow numbers resonating with an attention-getting kick. It doesn’t hurt that the band covers the field with expertly executed songs that comprise garage rock, jangle pop, rustic country, and more. What a record.
We don’t need to tell you about R.E.M.’s importance to modern music. And this record plays a large role in establishing the group’s reputation.

R.E.M. Unplugged 2001 LIMITED EDITION 2 LP SET
Complete Live Recording from MTV's 2001 Unplugged Sessions! Includes 6 Never-Broadcast Songs!
R.E.M. mark the point when post-punk turned into alternative rock. When their first single, "Radio Free Europe," was released in 1981, it sparked a back-to-the-garage movement in the American underground. While there were a number of hardcore and punk bands in the U.S. during the early '80s, R.E.M. brought guitar pop back into the underground lexicon. Combining ringing guitar hooks with mumbled, cryptic lyrics and a D.I.Y. aesthetic borrowed from post-punk, the band simultaneously sounded traditional and modern. Throughout the '80s, they worked relentlessly, releasing records every year and touring constantly, playing both theaters and backwoods dives. Along the way, they inspired countless bands, from the legions of jangle pop groups in the mid-'80s to scores of alternative pop groups in the '90s, who admired their slow climb to stardom.
"No band but Nirvana made more breathtakingly transformative use of MTV Unplugged than R.E.M., the only act to headline the show twice... By 2001, drummer Bill Berry and some of the campfire vibe are gone. But new songs like "At My Most Beautiful," with its neo-Beach Boys harmonies, and the elegiac bubblegum of "Imitation of Life" show a band that could still sucker-punch hearts, while quietly magnificent takes on "Cuyahoga" and "So. Central Rain" conjure the same triumphant melancholy they did in the last century..." - Rolling Stone

R.E.M. The Best of R.E.M. at the BBC 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION 2 LP SET
180g Vinyl Double LP! Cut At Abbey Road Studios!
Collection Of In-Studio Sessions, TV Performances & Live Broadcasts From The BBC Archives!
R.E.M. grew up with the BBC, and this historic relationship is lovingly celebrated across an incredible collection that beautifully illustrates the career trajectory of one of modern music's greatest bands.
In the U.S., R.E.M. came to attention in the early '80s and developed a fanbase around the band's relentless touring schedule and college radio airplay – a uniquely American network of local radio stations playing "alternative" music. The band's emergence in Europe also stemmed around their live forays in England, France, the Netherlands and Germany starting in '83. From this time, the BBC embraced the band – not only with airplay, but also with interviews, TV appearances and in-studio sessions. This strong bond between R.E.M. and the BBC throughout the band's career is celebrated here with Best Of R.E.M. At The BBC 180 gram 2LP set. The audio is delineated first by in-session performances - from 1991's Into The Night, to John Peel Sessions and through to the Radio 1 Live Lounge in 2008.
The live broadcasts begin with a rough and tumble show in 1984 at Nottingham's Rock City, the stunning 1995 return from a 6 year touring hiatus for the Monster Tour at The National Bowl at Milton Keynes, followed by a blistering headline performance at Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage in 1999 and rounded out with 2004's intimate performance for 200 BBC-invited guests at London's St. James' Church.
The band's history with the BBC is documented with a newly written overview of the BBC/R.E.M. connection by rock journalist Tom Doyle.
"The wax edition is packed with well-known and less-familiar singles and should satisfy those R.E.M. fans who don't require deep cuts or repeat performs of songs that continued to work their way into the set list. ANd the vinyl still presents a broad spectrum of music, with intimate un-plugged selections balancing electric material that ranges from highly melodic pop to raw and exhilarating rock and roll. Like a good concert, BBC saves some of the biggest hits (including "Losing My Religion" and "Man On the Moon") for last. And the version of "Everybody Hurts" that launches Side D so clearly sends the audience into a swoon (the single was a Top Ten hit in the UK) that fans in the States may reconsider where to place that song in R.E.M.'s canon." - Jeff Wilson, The Absolute Sound, February 2019

25th Anniversary Remaster!
Sixth Studio Album Reissued On 180g Vinyl LP!
Ranked #97 - Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Artists!
Released in November 1988, Green was the group's major label debut for Warner Bros. Records. The album represented a stylistic departure from its guitar-driven rock sound to an acoustic approach. Exploring left-wing political values, the group promoted 'green' politics through the album from its the name to its packaging and lyrics.

Reviewing Out Of Time, Rolling Stone simply said, "This may well be America's best rock & roll band." Earlier this year, Pitchfork called the album "arguably their most important record," while Time Magazine named ‘Out Of Time' one of it's All-Time 100 Albums, saying it contains "ethereal beauty rarely heard on a rock record."

R.E.M. COLLAPSE INTO NOW 150 GRAM LP - 150 Gram Vinyl! Featuring Guest Vocals from Peaches, Patti Smith and Eddie Vedder!
R.E.M. members Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills recorded the new material at the Music Shed in New Orleans, as well as at Berlin's Hansa Studios. Additional recording and mixing was completed at Blackbird Studio in Nashville.
Produced by longtime collaborator Jacknife Lee, the album features guest vocals by Patti Smith, Peaches, and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.
In comparing the record to the band's previous release, Accelerate, bassist Mike Mills has said the band "wanted this new one to be more expansive. We wanted to put more variety into it and not limit ourselves to any one type of song. There are some really slow, beautiful songs; there are some nice, mid-tempo ones; and then there are three or four rockers." - Mike Mills in interview for Spin.com
"It's more of a personal record than a political one. Current events do come into our mind when we write, but the themes here are more universal." - Mike Mills in interview for RollingStone.

RECKONING 180 GRAM LP - "R.E.M. abandoned the enigmatic post-punk experiments of Murmur for their second album, Reckoning, returning to their garage pop origins instead. Opening with the ringing 'Harborcoat,' Reckoning runs through a set of ten jangle pop songs that are different not only in sound but in style from the debut. Where Murmur was enigmatic in its sound, Reckoning is clear, which doesn't necessarily mean that the songs themselves are straightforward. Michael Stipe continues to sing powerful melodies without enunciating, but the band has a propulsive kick that makes the music vital and alive."

Accelerate, the first studio album in four years from R.E.M., finds modern rock's most acclaimed band returning to the striped-down, guitar-driven power that first enraptured fans. Helmed by the band and, for the first time, Jacknife Lee (co-producer of U2's '05 Grammy Album of the Year How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, The Hives and Snow Patrol), Accelerate puts the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group once again firmly behind the wheel of alternative rock, a genre R.E.M. helped invent.

DOCUMENT - THIS IS THE OUT OF PRINT 2008 EDITION FROM THE CAPITOL VAULTS SERIES ON 180 GRAM VINYL - RARE & VALUABLE PRESSING AND SELLS FOR WELL OVER $100
This LP was ranked by Rolling Stone Magazine as #41 of the Top 100 Best LPs of the eighties. Q Magazine gave this Limited Edition 180 Gram Vinyl Pressing Four Stars out of five and said it made for very interesting archival listening. It shows a group cresting the cusp between art rock alternativism and chart friendliness... The general impression is of a band free from constraints rocking with a vengeance.
R.E.M’s later albums have sold by the container load. But they had to make albums like this to build a fan base that brought them to notice. A number of critics place this record as their best. The band does sound as though they are having to work to be heard.
There is significant energy in “Finest Work Song” and The Byrds-like “Welcome To The Occupation.” It has been some time since Michael Stipe has as many words to say as he did in “Its The End Of The World As You Know It” and “The One I Love” has to be one of their best songs of all-time.
