Description

This is the pretty scarce debut 2-lp set by Red Temple Spirits entitled "Dancing to Restore An Eclipsed Moon" released in 1988 on Nate Starkman & Sons. Top notch stuff that kinda fell between the cracks in the band's short lifespan. I wouldn't be selling this if I didn't have another copy, that is for sure. VINYL is NEAR-MINT and the lovely gatefold cover is Excellent condition. Labels say promo.

NOTES: Los Angeles quartet Red Temple Spirits skillfully mixes tribal post-punk influences — mid-period Cure, Savage Republic, early (Death) Cult — with a loving dose of lysergic psychedelia (Syd Barrett and Roky Erickson are particular touchstones). Bassist Dino Paredes (formerly of Psi-Com, with Perry Farrell) and guitarist Dallas Taylor coax entrancing drones and pulses from their instruments with judicious use of echo and other effects, while shamanistic frontman William Faircloth (a colorful immigrant from Britain's original '60s psychedelic movement) delves into mysticism (Native American on the first album, Tibetan on the second) with a grace and passion rarely seen before.

Dancing to Restore an Eclipsed Moon is an astonishing debut. The luxurious packaging (double LP/single CD) mirrors the care put into the music, which tastefully incorporates flutes, bells and natural sounds (water, birds) to create a heady atmosphere of ritualistic ecstasy. Short catchy compositions like "Dark Spirits" and "Dreamings Ending" alternate with several long and complex pieces.

** I will be listing a ton of great Lps and CDs (plus a few odds and ends) over the next few weeks. Lots of Punk, Post Punk, Indie, Psych, Rock, Jazz, Soul etc. I also combine shipping if you buy more than 1 item. **

PAYMENT: I accept Paypal, Checks and other forms of payment that Ebay won't let me list since they own Paypal and want you to use it. Greedy, greedy. International bidders must use paypal or contact me if you want to pay in other forms.

GRADING: I ususally only Use Near-Mint (Like New), Excellent (Close to Near-Mint but maybe a few slight marks on the vinyl or general shelfwear to the cover) and Very Good (don't sell VG records unless they are older or hard to find - some may fall in between VG and Excellent and I'll try to note this. Sometimes I'll play the lp first if I think it may be VG or in between VG and Excellent.
