Description
Robotic Empire is selling a small pile of rare TEST PRESSES and other rare items to help raise money to buy a van for our deadbeat bands to use in dire times. Some of these have been listened to, but not all so there is no guarantee of the sound quality on these being perfect (as a few of the tests are rejected versions). Usually the bad ones get trashed but it's possibly a couple didn't find their way to a garbage grave, and thus, we don't guarantee this sounds 100% like the finished version.
That being said, this auction is the rare TEST PRESS edition of the RED SPAROWES / GREGOR SAMSA Split 12" vinyl release. The normal version of that release was limited to about 1200 copies but only a mere 5 copies of this test got made! For those who don't know manufactures lingo, a TEST PRESS is exactly that, a sample record that gets cut prior to the hundreds or thousands of standard versions that get pressed (so the band & label can check it out and make sure it doesn't have any problems). These are typically made in a very limited quantity, and this particular TEST PRESS is limited to a mere 5 copies!
There is no artwork with this thing, it's just the record (but for whatever reason this copy was hand numbered... #3/5). If you want the regular album itself, we suggest seeking it out elsewhere as this edition is particularly boring looking... just very limited and usually only kept within the confines of the label & band(s) involved. These have been sitting on a cool, dry shelf for years though and instead of continuing to sit in boxes that just collect dust, several Robotic Empire releases in TEST PRESS form are being sold right now to raise money to buy a van. Yep, our bands' vans tend to breakdown a lot due to insane amounts of touring so the proceeds of this are being put towards a backup van for emergency use and otherwise.
That being said, if you are IN one of the bands who's TEST PRESSES are being auction here and it's bumming you out, no worries. Just let me know and I will take this down, or split the profits with the band or something. Don't want to bum anyone out, but we get asked for TEST PRESSES a lot and this is a good way to get them into the collectors' hands AND put the funds right back into something useful for independent musicians!
