Description
For sale is a rare 1950s Cool Jazz vinyl release of Collections by Norvo, Pepper, Morello, and Wiggins (Score, SLP-4031).
Collections is an album by vibraphonist Red Norvo, saxophonist Art Pepper, drummer Joe Morello and pianist Gerry Wiggins recorded in early 1957 originally released on the Intro label.
This original mono pressing was on the Score label in 1958 by Mesner & Mesner, Inc as part of the Score Star Series!
Very rare in deed, the record is pressed on heavy weight vinyl. While it has been played quite a lot, the play is overwhelmed more by hiss than any pops or crackle - both are present more on outer tracks (see below for more details).
Disc is G+-VG- showing quite a bit of play wear and inner sleeve marks, most are superficial scuffs and scratches but this album has been well loved and shows it. Outer tracks play with light crackle and occasional pops, and there's noticeable hiss through most of the tracks, inner tracks are not as overwhelmed with surface noise. The hiss is what makes the condition G+ rather than VG+, so a good cleaning may improve play.
Jacket is VG+, much closer to EX with minor storage wear, a 2.5" seem split on the spine with very early signs that a split may be developing on the bottom seem, and light rubbing. Other than this wear the jacket is superb, showing only light edge dings and expected discoloration (see pictures).
