VARIOUS ARTISTS – Rat Race! Peppermint Records PR 5104. FACTORY SEALED NEW BLACK VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Issued in 2022. Limited black vinyl pressing. 12 tracks by 12 different artists from the Youngstown, Ohio area as recorded at the studio of Peppermint Productions, roughtly from the tail end of the 60s thru the mid-70s, complete with short vintage commercials (also from Youngstown) designed to give one the flavor of radio from the day. All previously unreleased.

DESCRIPTION: The Youngstown’s music scene in the late 60’s and early 70’s was thriving, featuring clubs like the Freakout, Mouse Traps and the Zodiac Club, its musical gold. Some of the bands from the area played live endlessly, yet never released a record, some released records but never played a single gig. At the same time, the studio was recording jingles and commercials, which you’ll hear bits of between each track. Youngstown had a sincerely diverse ethnic community as well and that stuff is really rare.
Founder and engineer of Peppermint Productions, Gary Rhamy is still behind the console some 50 years later and has with great patience and loving care transferred the recordings you find here himself, on the same Ampex 440 tape machine that most of these numbers were originally laid down on. Because of Gary’s indulgence, you can be assured that what you’re hearing is the same fidelity that was blasting out of the JBL’s back in the day, back when the Blalock Brothers (as Iron Knowledge) were hearing Rat Race for the very first time (the track from which the album title is drawn).
THIS ITEM IS NEW AND UNPLAYED. Used items will include condition details for the cover, disc, inserts, etc.
NOTE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS: If the jacket or disc (unless sealed) is punched, marked, or cut in any manner, denoting a promotional/review copy, I will state that as part of the item description. All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

NEW LP: This item is new and unplayed, but was received from a supplier without being shrink wrapped or cellophane wrapped; more common on imports but also many of the smaller independent US labels do not seal their LPs. These items are placed inside of a clear poly outer sleeve upon their receipt by me

MIX: This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.
