Description
Extremely Rare Most Sought After Rudy Ray Moore Zodiac Album-The LP is in Excellent Condition with a beautiful glossy black vinyl shine to it, and the spine has wear, and the cover is in Good Condition with some pen writing to the right of the picture and moderate discoloration on the back of the cover, on Kent Label # KST-015 from 1977. All-in-all this is in Very Good Condition for a 34 year old album.
One of the best of the Rudy Ray Moore raunchy party albums from the 70s, and one that must be seen to be believed! The cover has "Rudy" standing nude with "The Madam" – but the man on the front really isn't Rudy, as you can plainly see that his face has been pasted over the image of another male model! Around this image, different Zodiac signs are interpreted by images of a couple making love in different positions! But if that's not enough, the album actually has a great long explicit track called "The Sensuous Black Man Meets The Sensuous Black Woman", plus two shorter revealing cuts "Trips Through The Signs Of The Zodiac" by Rudy – one for men, and one for women.
This is seemingly an instructional "How to" guide at love making for the hip black folks of the 1970's. The content is side splitting and hilarious! It's performed by Rudy Ray Moore and his sidekick, Lady Reed and it's well worth the investment with timeless laughs. It's also a guide outlining one's sexual competence based upon your specific zodiac sign. In a perfect world this title should have won a grammy for the comedy release of 1977.
With most of these records, the music contained within isn't anywhere near as filthy as the artwork on the cover. But leave it to Rudy Ray Moore, the man known as Dolemite, to bring the filthy funk to your ears. On his late-70s Zodiac Album, he runs through each of the signs of the Western astrological chart with an emphasis on the ass. The cover's notable not only for the Kama Sutra-style sex diagrams but also for the very generous censor bar given to Rudy's magic wand.
Rudy Ray Moore was an X-rated comedian who has used jazz and R&B accompaniment when delivering his raunchy rhymes. He has been called the Godfather of Rap (a title that has also been used to describe sociopolitical soulster Gil Scott-Heron). Among non-Black audiences, Moore was never as well known as Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy or Redd Foxx, but he has commanded a loyal cult following in the Black community and has influenced hip-hoppers ranging from the 2 Live Crew to Ice-T to Big Daddy Kane (who hired him as a guest on his 1990 recording "Big Daddy Vs. Dolemite"), not to mention Blowfly. A perfect introduction to Moore's 1970s work, this 1977 LP is outrageously funny and sensuous. Rudy Ray Moore isn't for everyone. But those who aren't offended by the profane and the sexually explicit shouldn't miss this classic recording, which is both historically important and incredibly entertaining. This copy is the only one available on the web and it doesn't come around very often, even on ebay, so get it while you can.
