Description
I'm guessing that, if you're looking, you know what you're looking at. However, here's the description:
Shrine Records SR-112, 'Guess Who Loves You' b/w 'What Am I Gonna Do' by Eddie Daye & 4 Bars, with SH-112-1 and SH-112-2 matrices in the runout groove along with a clearly stamped cross on side one (pictured)
A Northern Soul classic on the label set up by Motown founder Berry Gordy's ex-wife and her partner, Shrine pieces are extremely hard to find due to most of them being destroyed in a warehouse fire in 1968.
Label side one looks about new. Superb! Label side two has a few very light scuff marks and has a slightly ridged feel in places, presumably where adhesive was applied. Still extremely nice, complete and superb colour.
Vinyl side one has one obvious mark at the beginning (pictured) which does not affect audio. Under strong light there are also numerous hairlines/paperlines. There is some light background crackle initially, but this dissipates as the loud cut takes over, and the audio is solid and superb. No clicks or pops until the very end, when another barely noticeable mark does cause around 6 or 7 clicks on the fadeout. Again, some light crackle after the record fades.
Vinyl side two exhibits similar hairlines/paperlines to side one, but without other obvious marks, and plays through beautifully with similar light crackle at the beginning and end.
All of this information is in order to be as transparent as possible about a record that is extremely hard to find in any condition at all, let alone as super playing condition as this! I believe that, until recently, this has not been played for many years due to being in storage and not much before that. Because of such strong audio and the minor visual flaws exhibited, I am grading this as VG+ according to the UK Record Collector Grading System.
