DISC JOCKEY

CONRAD CORPORATION, LOS ANGELES, CA

Probably pre-1963 because of the postal zone instead of zip code used for the Conrad Corporation address on the bottom of the DICK JOCKEY.

The DISC JOCKEY has eighty slots for seven inch records. There is a round plastic index for keeping track of which record is in which slot.

This is essentially a "Lazy Susan" for records. It also has a cover made from a plastic material not unlike that of a shower curtain.

The DISC JOCKEY is in excellent condition, though the index is written on with ballpoint pen. There are a few small dark scuffs on the light beige plastic. The mechanism turns freely.

The plastic cover is in good condition. There are some small vertical slits in the material that I've backed-up with scotch tape to prevent any further tearing. Originally the top of the cover closed with a draw string that was affixed a one end and "cinched" to the desired opening size. The draw string is still enclosed, but not affixed at one end. The size of the opening can still be manipulated by a combination of pushing the cinched material and pulling the string, but probably would not stand up to too much more handling without some further tears. I've done this to the point seen in the picture of the cover.

I see this as a fun thing, it looks cool full of records-but I would not keep my A-1 material in the DISC JOCKEY.

I've been selling records for twenty year and this is the first one of these I've ever seen.

I've already worked out the shipping package for this item. It's going to consist of a cardboard box, cardboard sheets and a combination of Styrofoam peanuts and balled-up Kraft paper.
