Description
Rare private recording - 6810 702 - of the famous bass Herman Scheij, with Felix de Nobel, piano. Performance on sept 21, 1974 Bergen, The Netherlands. Schey sings songs of Schubert, Brahms and Wolf. The lp is accompanied by a simple sleeve, with pictures on the front of a statue made by a Dutch artist specially for this recital. On the reverse the lirics text. Record and sleeve are NM. Note: it is an simple sleeve. this record was issued in limited quantity by “Instituut voor international excursies". Scheij must have been about 70 years old when he made this recording, and he still sounds great. This must have been his last recording. He was an experienced singer already before the war, and he sang with Mengelberg in his Mathew Passion, as well as in Mahler. Felix de Nobel was an well know choral conductor and accomanist, he gave concerts with Elisabeth Schwartzkopf, Jo Vincent (see my other auctions), etc.

Grading:
M: never used. I don’t use this grade unless the record is sealed
NM: No visible or audible faults
EX: Record has clearly been used, but has no major audible faults, some non sounding marks possible, maybe some dirt or light surface noise (especially on older mono record, surface noise is quite normal).
VG: Light audible faults, ticks or surface noise
G: scratches, etc. I don’t sell record in this condition, unless they are very special and collectible.
Records are first graded visually. If I have doubts, I grade them on my linn lp12 / clearaudio sigma.
