VERY RARE
Black & Gold mono 1st pressing from 1963 The Beatles 'Please Please Me'
1963 The Beatles 'Please Please Me' with the E.J.Day Cover' Angus Bean' photo credit set to the far right a little bit of this writing is missing as the picture shows. The Parlophone Company' edge text, The record is pressed on thick quality vinyl.
The matrix numbers on the record are XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N with the small 33 1/3 print on the label. The Catalogue number is PMC 1202 and is on the original Black & Gold Parlophone label so is a MONO 1st pressing.
IT ALSO COMES WITH THE MEGA RARE NEMS COVER.THIS IS THE ORIGINAL PLASTIC ADVERTISING LINER FROM THE NEMS SHOP IN WHITECHAPEL LIVERPOOL.THIS WAS BRIAN EPSTEINS OWN SHOP.IT IS VERY RARE TO FIND ONE OF THESE COVERS NOW ESPECIALLY ONE FROM THE MOST IMPORTANT BEATLES RELATED SHOP IN THE WORLD,IT IS MOST INCREDIBLE THAT IT HAS LASTED THIS LONG.THE COVER WAS ONLY INTENDED TO PROTECT THE RECORD UNTIL IT WAS HOME SAFELY,IT WAS NOT REALLY MEANT TO LAST THAT LONG.I HAVE HAD THIS FOR OVER 40 YEARS.I MYSELF WENT INTO THE NEMS SHOP IN LIVERPOOL AT THE TIME AND WENT DOWN THE STAIRS TO PURCHASE THE RECORD AND ALSO GOT THE COVER.THIS IS A VERY RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN ONE OF THESE COVERS,THERE CANT BE MANY IN EXISTENCE NOW AND IT IS A TOTALLY UNIQUE ITEM.THE COVER ITSELF IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH NO RIPS OR TEARS.
The condition of the vinyl is not too bad,it does have several slight surface marks and a couple of scratches but this lp plays all the way through quite clearly. The labels are not too bad as the picture shows, side 2 is slightly worse than side 1 but they are not too drastic. The cover is not brilliant but I have seen worse. It does have some writing on it on the back and some tape on the bottom but overall for its age it is quite alright.
The beatles black and gold record please please me is a extremely hard pressing to find nowadays in anywhere near decent condition. Most are found damaged and barely playable.
