Description

Extremely nice original copy of "Color One Tear Black," backed with "Party Man, Part One," on Cincinnati, Ohio's own short-lived Split Records (no release number, no date), proably released in 1973.

VERY GOOD CONDITION RECORD in somewhat yellowed original, plain white paper sleeve. Minor surface scratches (probably from being stacked), still very glossy, quite possibly unplayed. Silver labels look almost new.

This one is truly a rarity and probably spent the last 36 years in a dusty cellar or warehouse. Sought after by fans and collectors of homegrown funk and Northern Soul, this 45 features Billy Peterson, Jr. performing a cover version of the regional hit "Color One Teardrop Black," originally released by label-mate Double O (aka James Bowens) and His Demingos.

Bowens' single "A Thousand Tears Too Late" lent its name to a recent retrospective museum exhibition on the Cincinnati funk and soul scene of the late 1960s and early 1970s, and this cut was another local and regional hit (see my other auctions for Double O's original version!).

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR; LOOK THIS ONE UP ON POPSIKE.COM, then BID! You definitely on't see another copy like this for a long, long time ...Good luck and please check out my other auctions for the stash of Northern Soul I recently uncovered here in the Cincinnati area. Thanks!
