**ONLY 5 IN EXISTANCE**
Up for auction is a ridiculously rare test pressing of the Melvins, Steel Pole Bathtub split single which I purchased from the president of Boner Records; who told me that there were only 5 (five) of these made. This test pressing originally came in a plain white paper sleeve; but I am including the actual wrap-around picture sleeve, which came with one of the colored vinyl copies that I also own.
This split single has Melvins covering Mudhoney's “Sweet Young Thing Ain’t Sweet No More” and Steel Pole Bathtub doing Sonic Youth’s “I Dreamed I Dream”. The single was released on Boner Records in 1989 as their answer to the Mudhoney, Sonic Youth split single, released in 1988 as the second installment of the Sub Pop singles club. The Melvins side of the sleeve is a recreation of the cover of the “Touch Me I’m Sick”, “Sweet Young Thing…” single by their former bassist, Matt Lukin's, new band, Mudhoney. The Steel Pole Bathtub side of the sleeve is their take on the Sonic Youth & Lydia Lunch “Death Valley ‘69” cover. The single that this is a test pressing of was released in an edition of 700 on more than 100 different vinyl colors.
The matrix numbers etched into the dead wax are:

Steel Pole Bathtub B-side (Side 2) “(A) BR 21 B2 “Say it, don’t spray it” L-34618X”
