Description
This auction is for the first UK pressing of Led Zeppelin II with the red plum label and with the A2 B2 matrix numbers. This lp has the Lemon Song on it. The record grades visually at VG+, but it plays better, like VG++. There is a prominent line on side 2, a thick line that looks like a scuff line, and I can't hear it when I play the LP. There are a few small hairlines as well. There is some very light background, but not all through the record. It plays very well, except side one cut one has a very light repeating click, not too long, and there are a couple medium pops on that cut, too. The rest of the cuts played well for me. The cover has trace ring wear at the top in front, and it has light ring wear on back. No splits, but there is edge wear all around, including the spine, which is readable, and the corners are all bumped. There is toning or brown soiling on both sides near the spine. Inside the gatefold there is light ring wear at the top on the left side, but the gatefold is very clean. The original sleeve with the warning about plastic bags is wrinkled at one corner and browned around the edges. The record is flat no warp. I really enjoyed listening to this LP, and I think this early Brit pressing sounds better than the American releases I have listened to. I have a fairly simple stereo system with a cheap Sony turntable, and a used amp, so if you have audiophile equipment, you may not get the results I did. This is a critical description of a rare record. I have the first Led Zep, first pressing, from the same collection, listed in my other auctions.
This record will be mailed Priority, insured wherever it goes. I will pack it in a plastic sleeve between 4 sheets of corrugated cardboard, to give it extra protection.
