Description
Artist: The Whatnauts.
Record label: Stang Records, a division of ALL PLATINUM Enterprises.
LP title: INTRODUCING THE WHATNAUTS, #ST-1005, recorded 3-18-71 (etched date in trail off of both sides).
Song titles: View close-ups.
Grade: Jacket: VG+ due to expected bumps on corners, a light brown stain at the upper left corner on the front of the jacket, and a 2 inch loss of paper at the lower right of the bottom seam; labels: NM. vinyl: VG+ due to minor rubs and scratches, and a minor warp that does not affect the sound at all; sound: VG+ with very minimal background noise, but the first track on the B side does skip a few times, and it has moderate background noise in parts of the song.
Comments: I listed this LP last week with a NM- sound grade, but I played it again, and after discovering the sound issues with the first track on the B side, I ended the listing early. However, a number of watchers sent me messages encouraging me to change the sound grade and to relist the LP, so here it is. As I said in grading the sound, the first track on the B side skips twice, but you should know that I have a recently manufactured "USB" turntable, and the tone arm does not have a weight adjustment. What does this mean? This LP may not skip on your turntable, because most serious collectors of vinyl records have very expensive and sophisticated turntables with tone arms that allow for weight adjustments in order to prevent the needle from "floating" across the shallow grooves of vinyl LP's that were pressed starting in the 1970's. But it is what it is, and if you can live with the fact that on my turntable the first track on the B side skips twice, you will have won yourself one incredibly rare and highly collectible LP.
