This auction is for a very rare PRIVATE PRESS on the small independent label THE PEPPERED SNOWFALL, entitled:

"Symposium: Selah Edith Hill The Children"

This is the very first (and only?) release on this California-based label w/ cat PS 1 (Stereo)

Recorded in 1972, released in very limited quantities only!

SELAH is:

___Stephen Correll: piano, fender rhodes, organ

___Jon Kip: tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, flute

___not credited: trumpet

___John Smith: bass, fender bass

___Thom Magee: drums, percussions, congas

plus:

___Edith Hill: lead vocals

___on a very few cuts there is a chorus of black kids supporting the lead singer in parts only!

!! There are at least two massive funk cuts which makes this record absolutely essential:

"THE CORNER" (9:15) with funky sax & deep cosmic fender rhodes (reminds me somehow of recordings by WELDON IRVINE, NATHAN DAVIS, CATALYST, THE POSITIVE FORCE, or 24 CARAT BLACK !!

"THE SHADOW DO" (5:27) with funky sax, very groovy organ, or deep basslines & massive breaks as well (somehow similar to stuff by GARY BARTZ, RAMON MORRIS, THE AWAKENING, LARRY WILLIS, CHARLES EARLAND a.o.)

!! And there is the wonderful soulful ballad "Light On Water", sung by Edith Hill who is joined by the flutist (who does a wonderful job here).

___You are bidding on a very scarce album presenting to you a wonderful inimitable piece of SPIRITUAL SOULFUL JAZZ with a deep funky edge to it!

I have two copies of this LP:
