Description

Description:

Up for grabs is a rare garage/psych 45 by Mouse and the Traps on Fraternity Records (Cincinnati, OH) — “Maid of Sugar–Maid of Spice” b/w “I Am the One.”

🔎 About the Artist & Label:

• Mouse and the Traps were a Texas-based garage rock band led by Ronny “Mouse” Weiss. They earned a cult following in the 1960s with their fuzz-drenched singles and are considered a cornerstone of garage-psych history.

• Released on Fraternity Records, a Cincinnati indie label also known for early rock and soul pressings.

• Produced by Robin Hood Brians, a well-respected Texas engineer/producer who also worked with acts like ZZ Top in their formative years.

• Songwriting credits include Ronny Weiss, Knox Henderson, Robin Hood Brians, and Mack Barton, each tied to the band’s creative nucleus.

💿 Why Collectors Seek This:

• “Maid of Sugar–Maid of Spice” is one of the group’s most collectible tracks — a classic fuzz-garage anthem included on several essential comps (e.g., Nuggets-style collections).

• Original Fraternity pressings are highly desirable in the garage rock collector market.

💎 Condition: VG (vinyl shows visible scuffs and play wear but plays through strong; labels have handling wear and preservation tape).

📦 Provenance: From the private collection of a legendary Detroit crate-digger and one-time DJ. This copy bears the telltale marks of his preservation methods — lightly etched year/date and taped label edges — adding credibility and historical provenance.

This is more than just a record — it’s provenance. You’re holding a “piece of rock history from an epic collection of rare 45’s, filled with dj copies and promos of early northern soul, doo-woo, rockabilly, detroit garage and psyche rock.”
