LP No.1 "ON TIME"
The very first 1969 Grand Funk Railroad classic...a wanted, hard to find album that was a popular sixties party record...
Although Grand Funk's first album, 1969's ON TIME, is unquestionably one of the best hard rock debuts ever. While some bands honed their sound over the course of a few albums, GFR had already found its niche with ON TIME, which was one of the first albums to be termed "heavy rock." Sample a young and hungry Grand Funk, with highlights including "Anybody's Answer," "Into the Sun," "Time Machine," and "Are You Ready?"
On Time was the first Grand Funk Railroad album and it served as a good introduction to the group's basic hard rocking blues influenced sound. "Are You Ready" and "Heartbreaker" would soon become an important part of their live shows. "T.N.U.C.," the nasty play on words, was their first full fledged jam session bordering on the very edge of progressive rock, clocking in at over 8 1/2 minutes long. For a debut album it was a ripper.
