Description
Charlie and his Orchestra play "Dinah" and "Daisy" on super-rare Clarinet/Mandolin 0115/0116. This is a German propagranda record pressed in limited quantities (50-100 copies) for distribution to radio stations and prisoner-of-war camps. It was never commercially available and most copies that surivied the war were deliberately destroyed. On each side, Karl Schwedler sings one chorus straight, and then another chorus with derogatory lyrics about Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt. The band is excellent and well recorded, with good arrangements. Dinah has a good clarinet solo and a nice sax obligato behind the vocal. Schwedler seems to have heard Louis Armstrong's version!
