Description
VERY RARE AND BECOMING RARER BY THE MINUTE.
AN ORIGINAL 'DISCATRON' 7" PORTABLE RECORD PLAYER.
A TRUE NORTHERN SOUL COLLECTOR WOULD NEVER BE SEEN WITHOUT ONE OF THESE IN THE 70S, PERFECT FOR THE NIGHTERS AND RECORD FAIRS.
Athough in working order, this will need a little tlc. It does play records ok but need a little soul coaxing now and again (well. it's as old as me and I do as well :-))
I have recently fitted new batteries and it does perform a little better than it did when I got it, although still not perfect. The needle inside is in excellent condition and plays records well. the volume knob suffers from a bit of static when turned, but is ok when volume is set. also there are a few tiny speckles on it (white paint I think) that were there when I bought it, not too bad though and nothing to worry about as they are quite
un noticable, see picture, the speckles are on the side that is photographed.
A must for the collector/Hobbyist with a little electrical knowledge. By the way, it seems to work better when you untighten some of the screws that hold the battery cover on? might mean something to someone?
Own a piece of musical history!!
