Description
VERY RARE CLIFF RICHARD “LAWDY MISS CLAWDY / BREATHLESS” CRUISIN’ THE 50's 1998 TEST PRESSING FOR CATALOGUE no. CASB 007 ONLY 20 of these TEST PRESSING were made.
The Audio for this 78 was taken directly from one of the 3 known ORIGINAL DEMO ACETATE’S so has all the original crackles and pops that were on the worn acetate. Cruisin’ wanted to keep that original sound and didn’t want it cleaned up electronically to much. This TEST PRESS has been played only a couple of times and has just a few light marks.
The story behind Cruisin’ The 50’s 78s is featured in the April 2017 edition of the Record Collector Magazine THIS IS THE INFORMATION FROM CRUISIN’ WHEN THE 78’s WERE ISSUED
The records are pressed in heavyweight vinyl on an original 1950's machine at EMI. The lacquers used to make the metal masters were cut on an original 50's mono 78rpm lathe and are complete with a locked eccentric runout groove - this feature is required by early jukeboxes to reject the record. To create an authentic rich 78rpm sound we were lucky with the help of Abbey Road Studios to track down a Multi Award winning engineer who had worked for many of the UK's leading record labels including Columbia and Top Rank during the late 50's. With his skills and using original equipment we were able to once again produce true 78rpm records of the highest quality.
THIS RECORD CAN BE MIXED IN WITH SHELLAC 78's ON A JUKEBOX WITH A 78 RPM NEEDLE - IT IS NOT AN INFERIOR MICROGROOVE PRESSING. It can also be played on a Record Player with a 33 needle. IMPORTANT
