From my own late ''70's teenage collection-plain white sleeve and insert sleeve is yellowed, but album is in excellent shape; no scuffs or scratches-I just listened to it in entirety).I'm 57 and downsizing-so this needs to find another appreciative home.Will ship First Class or Media Mail. No Boston fan should be without this bootleg. The story is that the tape that made this bootleg was stolen from Tom Scholz' garbage. A more believable story is that these recordings came from one of the demo tapes sent out to record companies. Who knows which story is true?
Ruthless Rhymes was a high quality bootleg label whose sub label/secondary re-issue label was Slipped Disc.They specialized in studio and soundboard bootlegs of popular rock stars of the time.
The sound quality is lower fidelity, but considering the fact that these are early demos it probably sounds like the studio recording,in fact it is quite good. And if the legend is true, they were apparently good enough to land Boston a recording deal.
But the really neat thing about these six demos is the early musical directions that were being explored. For instance, "Life Isn't Easy", an early version of Something About You, goes in a surprising new direction other than what we're familiar with on the finished product. In fact I like the original version much better. ( Thanks to the strong masterful guitar chops of Tom Scholz, the great Brad Delp on power vocals, guitar great Barry Goudreau, plus Fran Sheehan on bass and the powerful Sib Hashian on drums, the number one Boston LP took the rock music world by storm, and it continues to be one of the most enduring and much loved albums of all time.)
