Description

RARE BBC Live Transcription of concert headlined by cellist Rostropovich. Limited edition - only distributed to BBC radio stations for re-broadcast. Broadcast commentary is on the record.
2 stereo LPs in excellent condition. They should have a thorough cleaning before playing due to their age (believed early 1970's). 
Concert was recorded at the Royal Festival Hall and features the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra led by Edward Downes. Before Rostropovich there is a short recital of songs by Schumann sung by April Cantelo. Label says cello concerto by Lutoslawski. The  BSO also plays the symphonic poem 'Tamara' by Balakirev. Rostropovich is soloist for the Tchaikovsky Variations on a Rococo Theme.
