TOP COPY ... Completely MINT! includes scarce double sided inner sleeve

Rare and very hard to find 38 years ago private pressing by Philadelphia progressive rock band "SYN" and their only album "Cast The First Stone".

The Syn album features a collectible basement lo-fi production with male/female lead vocals in garage-ish rock/progressive bag. Known for unique instrumentation and arrangements of their self compositions, they had some local success with this self-produced album. The band featured two guitarists (one is also the female singer) + keys/violin, flute, bass, winds, drums ...They were labeled as USA's answer to the UK 70's band Renaissance - though due to lack of exposure were unable to issue more than this one album and disappeared without a trace.

The similarities with Renaissance is obvious and their music style must have gone down well on stage. The lyrics are also very contemporary, dealing with love and nuclear holocaust. Very 1970s, in other words. Both the sound and the quality of the songs are good with sophisticated arrangements and variation in music style -- featuring nice keyboard, guitar and flute breaks. The songs predominantly feature the female vocalist. She sings in a forceful yet pleasant style that was to become more common 20 years later. Overall a non-challenging but nice listen.
