Description
RARE Acetate Test Press Early Electro / Hip-Hop CLASSIC by Cameron Paul, aka Layizon - "The Ride Inside".
From the late 70s through the 80s, first in clubs and later at radio stations KSOL and KMEL, Cameron Paul was one of the DJ / remixers who pioneered the "megamix" style of mixing. His spot in DJ history is secured, as the main DJ in the Bay Area of that era, playing a hot mixture of hip-hop, R&B, and newly-emerging electro sounds. His remix of "Push It" (the same version commonly heard today) helped Salt N' Pepa blow up.
This song, which came out under the name Layizon, sounds similar to "Push It" and is one of the classics of early electro / hip-hop. It was officially released as Tandem Records TR-8, a-side Club Mix / Instrumental. This is a one-sided ACETATE TEST PRESSING, one-of-a-kind. It's likely that this is actually a copy that he played out in SF clubs or radio.
The record surface has several visible scratches, but plays really well, just a tiny bit of crackling at the beginning. Plain sleeve.
