Avant garde psych, drug related and very weird. Happening underground keyboard/electronics pioneer Nik Raicevic's first appearance was on this "Head" Lp, which is basically an enhancement for the marijuana smoking listening pleasure of "electronic music from art in space".

This is pdefinitely the only electronic/space/psych/stoner album you'll ever find on the Buddah label. Buddah Records, outside of Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band, were a rather mainstream and "safe" label, with some good and not good fuzzrock bands, including hot selling bubblegum acts for pre-teens... ~ Captain Beefheart was too radical for that label's conservative tastes and so was the album "HEAD"

Now as for Head, this is by far the most unusual and trippy album you'll ever find on that label.  Each of the three extended cuts all have drug references in their titles, "Cannabis Sativa", "Methedrine" and "Lysergic Acid Diethylamine". Way-out Nik Raicevic was the guy responsible for this Lp; he was an early electronic musician from Los Angeles who realized that Moog music would reach a dead-end if it consisted of little else than Switched-On Bach clones. So everything he did was his own, but since this was the early days of electronic music, it tends to be rather avant garde and trippy -- don't expect some tame 'elevator muzak' ...Each of these extended cuts consists of weird synth droning, far-out space sound effects and just plain weirdness, with a minimalist influence at times. A certain 'lift off' for head phone listeners....This stuff obviously didn't please the folks at Buddah, probably too concerned with trying to keep The Ohio Express credible (which they never were), so they kicked Nik Raicevic off their label and deleted the album into obscurity. But that didn't stop Nik Raicevic, he simply formed Narco Records and released four more way-out albums, each of them all worth having if you like off-the-wall head-tripping music.

This is one of those electronic obscurities that'll never see the light of day on CD, so better hold on your turntables and look hard (and likely open up your pocketbooks, as they're getting expensive).

CONDITION: The Cover: Unless you are lucky enough to find this 40+ year old relic in shrink wrap, it's going to always have shelf wear to various degrees...the cover did not wear well at all... this copy is solid & stiff everywhere with only some light shelf wear on front, VG++ plus a promo sticker at bottom left which only raises the value of this copy as apre-release promotional...the back cover is minty clean.... 

The Vinyl: all smooth and glossy M- clean...looks and plays outstanding with NO audio issues. TOP COPY with clean Buddah labels that say: "promotional copy"
