PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE!!!! Original 1967 first pressing by the legendary "ENGLISHMEN" who were one of the better bands on the infamous local North Carolina JUSTICE label, home to many a *great* primitive pounders from the '65 - '66 teen scene ...

Led by singer/rhythm guitarist John Workman, The ENGLISHMEN featured a standard mixture of popular takes of sixties grooves with a couple of originals thrown in. Like many Justice acts Workman and company were no more than a raw/primitive garage band from the teen-scene found in almost every mid sixties neighborhood, but these guys scored a full album!
John Workman was 27, but the other four members were just 16 to 17 year old highschoolers. That youthful ineptitude gave the album part of its low-tech charm, though 16 year old drummer Ronnie Wheeler is actually pretty good. This is 100% guitar and farfisa organ -ago-go led crude garage in loosely tight structures, including the sedating 'Unchained Melody' and certainly worth hearing is the sleep inducing 'Are You Ready?', '96 Tears' and a lobotomized 'Catch the Wind'. As for the originals, the title track is a memorable sunny-sound groove, while "Ghost Riders IN The Sky", "Englighmen Theme", "Penetration" and "Bootleg" rave it up as they can with uptempo surfy-reverb guitar piercing leading the way... Sure it may have been recorded in 1967, but dressed in their white coats and thin black ties these guys looked and sounded like they were living in 1965 - which may account for another part of their oddball charm.

CONDITION: The Cover: pretty decent for a 45 year old local teen garage item, there is a little shelf wear, starting at top center above group logo, otherwise just light handling, the bottom front (only) has a little uneveness (minor), small watermark under drumset, otherwise presentable. The back cover is pretty clean except for light aging you see with Justice covers ... overall VG(+) to be safe, has minor issues but instantly collectible and goes for $$$ triple figues in collectors circles in similar -or less- condition as this...
The Vinyl: retains the original gloss but scattered with light hairscuffs and few stylus drags, looks VG and plays exceptionally well with low case surface in some parts but when tested the whol album played enjoyable with a bright sound - no audio groove wear ... the gold Justice labels have a few marks, a small light faded word 'soul'(?!) on one label (minor)...otherwise presentable.
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
