"ROCKET  TO  RUSSIA"

Sire      SR 6042

1977

VG++/ VG++

ONLY SIGNED COPY OF "ROCKET TO RUSSIA" ON EBAY AS OF 7-15-2018.

Beautiful copy of The Ramones third LP release.  The disc is in fine shape with plenty of gloss (see above for detailing) and the cover is also in fine shape.

My girlfriend and I saw The Ramones for the first time on February 14, 1978 at Randy's Rodeo in San Antonio, Texas (just 37 days after we saw the Sex Pistols at the same venue).  The Runaways were also on the bill.  My girlfriend went to the back of the club to check out the merch and met Arturo Vega who was The Ramones long time friend / art director / lighting director  / jack of all trades.  Arturo designed the band's logo and made significant artistic contributions to the group.  He introduced us to the guys after the show.  They were friendly and we were impressed.  We moved to Boulder, Colorado and made sure we caught up with the band at the Blue Note Club in 1979.  Saw them a total of six times.

On April 27, 1980, they came to Denver and played The Rainbow Music Hall.  The best record store in town, Wax Trax, did an "in-store" with the band and I got four LPs and a UK 45 with PS signed by all four.  One is framed in my library, one I sold two years ago on eBay and one I gave to one of a good friend's daughter for her birthday.  The other LP and 45 is in storage.

These guys were the best.  They played like gifted maniacs and the crowds love 'em.  I still play their records/CDs and I miss them.  Rest in peace Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Arturo.  You changed the world and not many people can say that.

PS - If you want a notarized typed / signed letter, let me know and I'll do it for you, gratis.
