Description
RAGS, by Lindsay Cooper, Arc Records, Cat number RRF001. Extremely rare privately pressed score to a film called “The Song Of The Shirt” by Sally Potter, a documentary about the rag trade and the use of underage labour and sweat shops. Music all recorded and mixed at the legendary Kaleidophon studios, by David Vorhaus. Line up on the recording includes Fred Frith, Chris Cutler, Phil Minton.
In twenty five years of film music collecting I have only found two of these albums, this is the second. Lindsay Cooper is a most important London musician who effortlessly crosses all kinds of musical genres and barriers. In 1971 she was part of the burgeoning Canterbury Scene, joined the prog / folk rockers Comus, worked alongside Mike Oldfield and went on to join the legendary experimental group Henry Cow. She became the band’s foremost composer, and by the late 1970s had formed the Feminist Improvisation Group with Sally Potter. Maggie Nichols, George Born (From Henry Cow) and Irene Schweizer. Rags, produced in 1979 / 1980 was Cooper's first solo album.

Sleeve: Ex, normal slight signs of wear. Also has a piece of gaffer tape top right (see photo), I am not going to try and remove it, but it looks removable, although I think it adds to the overall look.
