Description

You're bidding on an original first edition print of R. Crumb's only 78 rpm record of his Keep-on-Truckin' Orchestra, featuring the songs Wisconsin Wiggles and River Blues. It has it's original jacket with the artwork in great shape. As you can see from the photo, the back of the jacket is somewhat torn, tho the paper is all there and can be repaired. I haven't tried to fix it because you might want to have it repaired professionally. As for the record's condition, I'd say it is fair to good. I can't say how it plays since I don't have the 78 rpm setting on my turntable, but it has only light scratches. The label on the River Blues side has the initials T & N lightly visible in faded red ink. Otherwise, it's in great collectible condition. I searched all over the internet to find another copy and could only find how much one would cost IF it were available, which it wasn't--$100.00. Here's what Steve Krupp's Curio Shoppe has to say about it: "In 1972 Krupp Comic Works (Kitchen Sink Press) created an Ordinary Record division and issued Robert Crumb's very first recording (and his only record in which the band was called "R. Crumb and his Keep-on-Truckin' Orchestra.") Because Crumb and producer/publisher Denis Kitchen both collected 78 rpm records, they playfully manufactured it in the 10 inch 78 rpm format that was well obsolete even in 1972. The record label and sleeve are both designed by Crumb. Despite the fact that Krupp's core hippie audience was listening to rock and psychedelic bands and the critical fact that few consumers even had a record player with a 78 rpm speed, the record got good press in Creem, Rolling Stone and other publications and 5,000 copies quickly sold via Krupp/Kitchen Sink's head shop market." There was a second printing in '73 of 5,000 copies and they were marked as such on the lower right hand corner of the sleeve. This has no such mark, making it a first edition print. No Reserve--Good Luck!
